Maison des Landes has special equipment available as a matter of course, such as hoists, electric beds, Alpha XL and ripple mattresses, wheelchairs, commodes, zimmers, etc. for which, in some cases, an additional charge may be made.

  • A limited number of electric wheelchairs and scooters can be hired on a daily basis.
  • Most diets are catered for but specials requirements do need to be notified at least a month in advance.
  • Nursing care is not provided within the hotel and therefore guests must be able to attend to their personal needs or be accompanied by an able-bodied escort capable of so doing.
  • The services of a District Nurse are available to give injections and other treatments but these are subject to a separate charge.

Maison des Landes is a charitable Trust funded and managed by the Lions Club of Jersey. The Trust runs a hotel in Britain's 'South Sea Island' catering exclusively for disabled guests and their families and helpers, in accommodation which has been specially designed and built to meet the needs of the disabled.

The hotel, which caters for up to 40 guests, is situated amid the gorse and heather of one of Jersey's most spectacular headlands with panoramic views over the Island's largest sandy beach and the wide Atlantic Ocean and amid beautiful gardens which themselves offer an ideal haven for relaxing in the Jersey sunshine. In the evenings the comfortable and homely lounges offer a wide variety of entertainment and the opportunity to do even more relaxing and enjoying the company of other guests.

The hotel has a large heated indoor swimming pool with special wheelchairs and a ramped side and hoist for ease of access and hotel staff on duty at the poolside. Specially equipped minibuses are provided, at no charge, to take guests on daily sight-seeing outings, visiting tourist attractions, shops and beaches. Evening excursions to country inns are also part of the holiday experience.

Holidays are offered on a bed, breakfast, picnic or packed lunch and evening meal basis for between seven and 14 nights' duration and applications should be made as early as possible in order to avoid disappointment. Groups wishing to book a holiday should send in their request with all relevant details, e.g. estimated number of guests, number of wheelchairs, etc. Children of disabled parents and parents of disabled children are most welcome as are other relatives, provided accommodation for them is available.

Flights by major airlines connect Jersey to numerous airports in the British Isles, Eire and the Continent and there are sea connections to Poole, Weymouth, Portsmouth and St Malo. Details and cost of air/sea travel may be obtained from the hotel or any travel agent. Connections from airport or harbour to the hotel are provided at no cost.
